Okay so here is my analysis of the movie.ġ- Let's start by the orphanage. One of the clues is the fire surviving the rain. I think the film wants to make you very unsure of whether or not the twins did it, just as Lola was throughout. The fire was meant to be a poetic punishment for burning their bible. They also knew how to disable the TV because they saw Adolfo fiddling with it earlier in the movie. Lola was conveniently lured away just before Adolfo caught fire. The children knew how to get to the house through the woods knew how far away it was from the convent. The “animals” they almost hit in the road looked more human than animal. ![]() The nun watching the children while they slept fell asleep. I think he was probably soaked in gasoline and lit on fire by the twins. How could someone react rationally in that situation? Plus it’s definitely possible for a fire to survive rain, given it was burning hot enough. ![]() And if a person was burning alive the pain would be unimaginable, not to mention the panic. ![]() I don’t see how trying to push a burning body with your bare hands, hoping there’s a significant puddle somewhere you can dip him into, is more reasonable than looking for a blanket to smoother him in the rain.
